Tinnitus Evaluation

Tinnitus is the perception of sound when no actual external noise is present. It is commonly referred to as “ringing in the ears,” but those who experience tinnitus report it can present as many different sounds such as buzzing, hissing, whistling, swooshing, and clicking. The frequency and severity of tinnitus vary from person to person. Many perceive tinnitus as only a mild distraction, but there are millions of people who report tinnitus to have a negative impact on their daily lives.

While there is no known cure for tinnitus, there are treatment options that can help suppress the perception of tinnitus and help the patient habituate.

A tinnitus evaluation includes everything that is performed during a comprehensive hearing examination along with some extra subjective testing and an in-depth conversation about how you perceive the tinnitus and how it affects your daily life.

After testing is complete, your provider will discuss possible tinnitus treatment options with you.
